What's in the database?

The CIP database contains information on health and human service agencies serving San Mateo County residents. Click here to start your search.

Specifically, these are private nonprofit and public (government) agencies that provide direct services to the public. (The database does not contain information on for-profit businesses or private practitioners.) These organizations fall into the following service categories:

Adult Protection and Care Employment / Training
Alcoholism Family Planning
Administration and Planning Services Financial Assistance
Commodity Services Health
Child Protection and Care Housing
Community Services Individual and Family Development
Developmental Disabilities Legal and Criminal Justice Services
Disabled Services Mental Health
Drug Abuse Recreation and Leisure
Education Organizational Support
Emergency Services Transportation

Fairly extensive descriptions exist for the above organizations - not just addresses and telephone numbers, but also the names of executive directors, eligibility requirements for service, fees, access by public transportation, wheelchair accessibility into the building, target populations, languages other than English spoken by agency staff and a narrative description of the services.

Other organizations in the file include hobby clubs, political organizations, social, service, and fraternal groups, and environmental organizations in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties, with some overlap into other Bay Area counties.
