New Indicators Report
Federal, state and local government agencies will spend up to $1 billion on San Mateo County transportation projects over the next five years, according to the 2009 Indicators for a Sustainable San Mateo County released last month. In the thirteenth annual edition of the Indicators report, Sustainable San Mateo County (SSMC) pays special attention to the county's transportation infrastructure and the role it will play in the long-term health and prosperity of the region. With a steadily growing population there is a need for new transportation projects which efficiently move people and goods while reducing the use of fossil fuels. Coverage in the report highlights key efforts to improve the transportation system in the county.

The report tracks 33 different "indicators," or trends, relating to the county's economic, social and environmental health. To download a copy of the report visit www.sustainablesanmateo.org/indicators-report/reports/2009-indicators-report/.
