New Free Preschool at Fairmont Park in Pacifica
The City of Pacifica Childcare Services Division is now enrolling preschool children, age 3-5, for a new free or reduced cost preschool program in Fairmont Park, 649 Parkview Circle, Pacifica, near the Daly City border.
The part-time preschool program will have 24 to 30 slots available for childcare five days a week, operating Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to noon. The program opened on March 17 and will follow the school year calendar.
The facilities were renovated through a San Mateo SmartKids grant which supports new child care centers and existing centers that are seeking to expand in San Mateo County. The program awards grants to help child care centers cover start-up and expansion costs directly related to facilities for new child care capacity.
The preschool curriculum will be planned around the central theme of developmentally-appropriate activities. Children participate in a wide variety of activities in the areas of art, music, story-telling, dramatic play, language arts, fine and gross motor skills, multicultural activities, cooking and science. The intent of the preschool curriculum is to ready children for their future education and to develop their socialization skills.
The income ceilings for all of the City subsidized programs are $3,894 per month for families of two or less, $4,172 for families of three, $4,636 for families of four, and $5,377 for families of five. All income levels are gross income, before taxes and deductions are taken out. Space is limited and slots will be filled on a first-come basis. For more information call Peggy at 650-738-7388.
