Holiday Tip #1:
Coping with Alzheimer's During the Holidays
The holidays can be an especially stressful time for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and their families. The Alzheimer’s Association, the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer research, care and support, has prepared a special Web page, www.alz.org/living_with_alzheimers_holidays.asp, filled with helpful tips to make the holidays less stressful.
Because of the changes he or she has experienced, a person with Alzheimer’s may feel a special sense of loss during the holidays. Caregivers may feel overwhelmed maintaining holiday traditions and hesitant to invite friends and relatives to share the holidays for fear they will be shocked and feel uncomfortable with behavior changes in the family member.
If your family has been touched by Alzheimer’s, the advice compiled might make the holidays less overwhelming. If you are planning on visiting a family coping with Alzheimer’s, knowing a little about what that family is going through will help prepare you to make the visit a more positive experience for all involved.
For more information contact the Alzheimer's Association at their toll-free 24-hour helpline, 800-272-3900, or visit their Web site at www.alz.org/.

This workshop is offered on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Monday of each month, court holidays excluded. For a flyer with all the details, click here.

Both workshops are offered at the San Mateo County Law Library, 710 Hamilton Street, 1st Floor Conference Room, Redwood City and start at 1:30 p.m. The workshops are not geared to address any specific area of law, rather they give a broad picture of the court process as a whole, whether the litigant is filing in small claims, has a landlord/tenant issue, personal injury, contract dispute or family law.
