New
California Youth Connection Chapter in San Mateo County
California Youth Connection (CYC) is a statewide advocacy
organization for foster youth and former foster youth. Members
of each local chapter are current and former foster youth who
use their experiences with the child welfare system to improve
foster care, educate the public and policy makers about the

For some time San Mateo County has wanted to have a chapter
and that goal has now been reached. The local chapter has been
meeting since February with a core membership of 10 youth and
6 adult supporters. The group worked to set up its governance,
learn how to advocate, and identify a local issue. On June
4, the chapter will be certified by CYC as an official arm
of the organization.
